Towards Data Science (TDS) is a Canadian corporation that uses Medium to provide a platform for thousands of people to exchange ideas and expand their understanding of data science. TDS's audience is mixed, consisting of readers entirely new to the subject and expert professionals who want to share their inventions and discoveries.
The TDS platform is one of the most popular data science blogs in the world and the most-read Medium publication with more than 600K followers. The group was founded in October 2016.
Towards Data Science looks for writers to propose up-to-date content focused on data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and programming. Because of its popularity, TDS can attract top writers offering them added exposure through TDS social media channels, such as LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, and the TDS newsletter The Variable. Additionally, top authors are invited to add content to the podcast channel.
Writers can choose to meter stories that are on TDS and earn money through the Medium Partner Program. TDS publishes the work of independent authors and therefore does not guarantee the accuracy of every contribution.
Towards Data Science editors are Editor in Chief Ben Huberman, Caitlin Kindig, Katherine Prairie, and Ludovic Benistant. The TDS podcast host is Jeremie Harris. TDS also has a team of volunteer editorial associates.
Towards Data Science membership is managed by Medium. By becoming a Medium member, readers gain unlimited access to TDS’s entire archive, as well as every other post on Medium. Readers can also sign up to receive a weekly newsletter that includes the top recent articles. Some articles are available without membership.
