Tohoku University

Tohoku University is a public educational institute located in Sendai, Japan. It was founded in 1907 and operates under the motto "Open-Door, Research First and Practice-Oriented Research and Education". The university is affiliated with the Association of Pacific Rim Universities and has been accredited by the National Institution for Academic Degrees and University Evaluation, Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan, and the Japan University Accreditation Association.

It is also known as とうほくだいがく and 東北大学 in Japanese. Tohoku University operates in the industries of education, higher education, and as a university.

The university has several subsidiaries, such as the Tohoku University School of Medicine, Tohoku University Advanced Research Center for Innovations in Next-Generation Medicine, Graduate School of Information Sciences, Tohoku University, and Tohoku University Venture Partners .
