Overview

Terminal Africa is the operator of a delivery aggregator platform created to send and receive products worldwide. The company partners with different local and international couriers, including DHL, Aramex, Kwik, Topship, and UPS. When a request is made by a user, it sends the information directly to the delivery partner chosen by the sender or receiver, assisting individuals and businesses to streamline deliveries. Users can access, compare, and pick rates from different logistics couriers with the pricing calculator. The delivery aggregator connects users to its delivery partners, who then execute the delivery within the agreed timeline.

The tech start-up assists entrepreneurs with online businesses by offering logistics, payments, and e-commerce solutions. It is a digital network of local and international logistics platforms created for African businesses. With Terminal, African business owners can arrange door-to-door deliveries from their digital devices.

Plans

To cater to different customers, Terminal Africa provides subscription delivery rate packages. Under the free plan, users get 10 percent shipping discounts, up to thirty labels in a month, and global address validation. Under the Tier-2 plan, users get a 40 percent shipping discount, up to 200 labels in a month, and multi-piece shipments. Those who subscribe to the Tier-4 plan receive a 55 percent shipping discount, unlimited monthly labels, and global pickups and delivery.

Beyond logistics services, The Terminal Starter, Terminal Basic, and Terminal Premium plans possess different enterprise-promotion tools for business performance. It also helps digitize operations for SMEs, large businesses, and e-commerce outlets. Some of these tools available on Terminal offer targeted advertising, provision of e-commerce dashboards, and customizable website templates, stock and inventory management, monthly transfers to local bank accounts, and digital corporate invoicing.

Udi Okoh, cofounder and chief marketing officer (CMO) of Terminal Africa said,

“For many years, my brother and I have worked with various African entrepreneurs and helped them create online businesses. By doing this, we learned more about the problems eCommerce businesses face with logistics and gradually built Terminal into the solution we have today.”

Process

To arrange a delivery, users must create an account. Once the account is set up, they can choose the option to "Ship a package in minutes" on the dashboard, then follow the steps to add a pickup, delivery address, and other details pertaining to the items in the package.

They can then make payment and wait for the courier to pick up the package. Pricing for delivery is dependent on the courier service utilized for a specific delivery. Some services charge according to the weight of the packages being delivered, and some charge according to the distance between the pickup and delivery locations.

The company offers an online delivery calculator for estimating the cost of deliveries. Users can pick the appropriate courier service provider, depending on the item being shipped. When picking a courier service for deliveries, users are required to ensure the service is able to deliver the specific product that they intend to ship. The company also generates shipping labels for its clients' delivery packages.

DHL Express requires dry food items to be vacuum sealed before they are shipped. Terminal offers users delivery control and a refund if the delivery is not completed. Users have the option to cancel a delivery until the time the package is picked up, at which time funds are reversed to a user's wallet and can be applied toward other deliveries.
