Shares is an online investment platform offering stocks, ETFs and cryptocurrencies. Headquartered in Paris, it was founded by Benjamin Chemla, Harjas Singh and François Ruty.

Shares was founded in April 2021 by Benjamin Chemla, Harjas Singh and François Ruty. In April 2022, Shares was officially launched in the UK. In May, the app was the second most downloaded financial app on the UK App Store. A few months later, Shares reached 150,000 active users.In October 2022, it was announced that Serena and Venus Williams had become brand ambassadors. In November 2022, Shares announced a collaboration with Ed Westwick for its first advertising campaign.In March 2023, Shares continued its European expansion and launched in Belgium and Poland, offering 66 cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Polkadot and Dogecoin. In June 2023, Shares became the first French fintech to obtain the PSAN (Provider of Services on Digital Assets) and PSI (Provider of Investment Services) authorisations, as an investment firm, issued respectively by the Financial Markets Authority (AMF) and the French Prudential Supervision and Resolution Authority (ACPR). In July 2023, Shares launched its waitlist in France ahead of its product launch in late summer 2023.

In August 2021, Shares raised a $10 million seed round. The list of investors includes Valar Ventures (Peter Thiel's fund), Singular, Global Founders Capital, and Red Sea Ventures.In March 2022, Shares successfully closed a $40 million in Series A, from Valar Ventures, Singular and Global Founders Capital. In July, Shares announced a $40 million Series B funding round led by Valar Ventures.

Shares is a multi-asset investment platform allowing users to invest in stocks, exchange-traded funds and cryptocurrencies via an app. Users can follow and engage with other investors’ investing activity in real time, as well as share and consume content in an in-app community.
