SenseTime

SenseTime is a Chinese artificial intelligence startup company that develops facial recognition technology. The company applies computer vision and deep learning algorithms, natural language understanding, and control technologies to advance image recognition technology. It has established a self-developed, deep learning supercomputing center in China and is a supplier of AI algorithms.

Xiaolan Xu, Xiaoou Tang, and Li Xu founded TimeSense in 2014 in Beijing, China. The company has about 20 investors including Alibaba Group, Star VC, IDG Capital and Infore Capital. In April 2018, the company has successfully raised US$600 million in its Series C round of funding from Alibaba.

The Chinese government's national surveillance system is using SenseTime's computer vision technology to process data from the country's over 170 million CCTV cameras and smart glasses of the police. Guangzhou Public Security Bureau uses SenseTotem, SenseTime's intelligent surveillance and video analytics system, to compare and match the crime scene facial captures with its database photos to identify persons of interest and aid criminal investigations.

Rong360, an internet and finance company and Focus Media's Huanbei, a balance transfer application, operates with SenseID, Sensetime's identity verification service. SenseID provides face identification, identity verification and ID card and credit card recognition functions.

The National Satellite Meteorological Center, China Meteorological Administration uses SenseRemote, the company's intelligent remote sensing image solution to help the center's meteorological satellite cloud detection products.

Using its patents for autonomous driving and core technologies, SenseTime has also developed chips and embedded systems for smart AI cars. SenseTime and Honda have partnered to focus on research and development of smart AI cars with autonomous driving solutions.
