Robert Aumann was born on June 8, 1930, in Frankfurt. He is an economist and mathematician with citizenship in Israel and the United States. He has had various occupations, including being a professor, and is widely known for his work in economics, game theory, and mathematical economics.
Aumann obtained his education from the City College of New York and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Having George W. Whitehead as his doctoral advisor, Robert Aumann mentored several doctoral students, including Yair Tauman, Sergiu Hart, David Schmeidler, and Abraham Neyman.
As part of his many career achievements, Aumann received the 2005 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences. He has been associated with Stony Brook University, where he holds a visiting position and is one of the founding members of the Stony Brook Center for Game Theory.
