PetaGene is a Cambridge-based artificial intelligence company which specializes in creating software for lossless compression of genomic data. Genomic data can be utilized to uncover the source of genetic diseases, which could then allow for medical research and possibly cures to be discovered. Its stated mission is to enable researchers to analyze genomic data to improve health and medicine for all of society.
The company has two products: PetaSuite and Peta Cloud Edition. PetaSuite is compression software which can be integrated into existing storage infrastruction and bioinfomatics pipelines. The software has tools that reduce the size and cost of transferring and storing next generation sequencing.
Peta Cloud Edition has the same capabilities as PetaSuite with the addition of enabling the user's software tools to integrate into cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, GCP, and private and hybrid cloud systems.
