Pesto was founded in April 2019 by Douglas Safreno and Vivek Nair. The company changed its name from Pragli to Pesto in December 2021.
Prior to founding Pesto, Doug and Vivek founded StacksWare. After StacksWare was acquired, they spend 2 years working remotely for the acquiring company.
During that time, they realized they loved remote work, but had two major issues:
1) Communication friction - text communication just wasn't as fast & good as walking up to someone with your laptop
2) Loneliness - they didn't build closeness as quickly as they would've in an office.
