Meru's managed cloud offers multiple generative models and customization techniques, making them available through a set of API calls. Meru claims its customized, task-specific LLMs demonstrate similar results to well-known models while running faster, running on commodity CPU hardware, and allowing businesses to deploy them on-premises. Meru was founded in December 2022 by CEO Rohan Arora and CTO Venkat Krishnan. Arora previously worked at John Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory on MLOps and modeling the Covid-19 national health mission. Krishnan previously worked at Tesla Autopilot. The company was part of the Y Combinator early 2023 batch, receiving $500K in funding. Meru launched on January 27, 2023.
