Limp Bizkit is an American nu metal/rap metal band from Jacksonville, Florida. Formed in 1994, the band's lineup consists of lead singer Fred Durst, bassist and backing vocalist Sam Rivers, drummer John Otto, DJ Lethal, and guitarist Wes Borland. Limp Bizkit is known for Durst's angry vocals and Borland's experimental instrumentation. The group has been nominated for three Grammy Awards and has sold over 40 million records worldwide.
Limp Bizkit got its start in the underground music scene of Jacksonville in 1994. The band soon gained a cult following and signed with Flip Records, a subsidiary of Interscope. Limp Bizkit released its debut album, Three Dollar Bill, Y'all$, in 1997, but achieved mainstream success with the release of their second and third albums, Significant Other (1999) and Chocolate Starfish and the Hotdog Flavored Water (2000). The band also gained a notorious reputation for its energetic live shows, such as their controversial appearances at Woodstock '99 and the 2001 Big Day Out Festival.
After going on hiatus in 2005, Limp Bizkit reunited in 2009 and began touring, eventually recording and releasing its fifth album Gold Cobra in 2011. The band left Interscope and signed with Cash Money Records the following year. Limp Bizkit planned to release a sixth studio album, Stampede of the Disco Elephants, in 2014; however, the album remained in "development hell" and was not released. In 2021, following a successful headlining set at Lollapalooza, the band released Still Sucks, recorded with all of the band's original members. Unlike previous albums, Still Sucks is only available on streaming platforms.
