The Institute of Science and Technology Austria, or IST Austria, is a graduate school and research institute of natural and mathematical sciences located in Klosterneuburg, Austria. It was established in 2006 by the Austrian Federal Government and the Government of Lower Austria, and the campus was opened in 2009. The president of IST Austria is Thomas Henzinger.
IST Austria's graduate school has a PhD program with six fields of study: biology, computer science, data science & scientific computing, mathematics, neuroscience, and physics. As of 2021, IST Austria has sixty-seven research groups studying various fields of science, led by professors at the school with teams of PhD students.
IST Austria is governed by its Board of Trustees, Executive Committee (which consists of five members of the Board of Trustees), and Scientific Board. The company's president is Thomas Henzinger.
