The club is one of the top rugby union clubs in the world, and they currently play in the Aviva Premiership league. The league, also known as the Gallagher Premiership Rugby or Gallagher Premiership, is an English professional rugby union competition that was founded in 1987.
The Harlequins are also known as "Quins" by their fanbase and play their home matches at Twickenham Stoop in Hampstead, London. The stadium gets its name from the former England international Adrian Stoop, who played for the Quins and was later president of the club. Until 2005, the stadium was known as the Stoop Memorial Ground before it was officially named Twickenham Stoop.
The Quins won the European Shield in 2001, making them the first British rugby team to do so. In 2011, the Quins won the European Challenge Cup, the Aviva Premiership in 2012, and the LV=Cup in 2013.
