Georgia Electronic Design Center (GEDC) is a research center and a seed investor in Atlanta, Giorgia that focuses on businesses that develop communication applications, including wireless/RF, wired/copper and fiber channels. Founded in 1999 by the State of Giorgia, it has a $5 million Seed Capital Fund. The fund can invest up to $500K at the first round, and the investment must be matched at a 3:1 ratio (minimum) by the private equity community. The Seed Capital Fund is managed by the Advanced Technology Development Center (ATDC) in Atlanta near the Georgia Institute of Technology. The center has generated more than $32 million in federal and industry investment. Its portfolio companies include ADVA, Analog Devices, Anritsu, Avago-Broadcom Limited, Darpa, Department of Defense, Energy Department, ETRI, Finisar, Fujitsu, Georgia Tech Research Institute, Harris, IBM, Inphi, Intersil, Kangxi, Keysight Technologies, Lockheed Martin, Lumerical and Nanowave Technologies.
