Expliseat

The company became known for certifying a light aircraft seat, made of titanium and carbon-fiber reinforced composites. The company was registered as a Design Organization by the EASA in 2013. The Titanium seat was approved by EASA in March 2014 and by the FAA in July 2014 becoming the first seat ever certified in composite, with just 4 kg (8.8 lbs), while usual seats weigh around 10–11 kg. This seat passed the "16g" certification in July 2015. The company has filed 15 international patents.

Expliseat launched the TiSeat E1 in 2013 for Airbus A320 family aircraft. In 2015, the seat was marketed for ATR regional aircraft, and in 2016 to Dassault Falcon business jets. In 2018, Expliseat is launching the TiSeat E2, marketed for the Boeing 737 and Bombardier Q400.

A program led by Airbus attempted to develop a composite passenger aircraft seat without success between 1998 and 2002.Zodiac Aerospace unveiled in 2014 a full composite seat below the threshold of 4 kg (8.8 lbs) in partnership with Hexcel. As of 2015, this seat had not yet been certified.

Expliseat’s main product, the TiSeat, is offered with optional features and customization, such as support and foam density based on flight duration, seat recline, IFE or in-seat power systems, and meal table dimensions.

Expliseat’s customers include Air Méditerranée, FlyCAA, Air Tahiti, Cebu Pacific and Spicejet.
