Endesa is an electric utility company generating, distributing, and supplying electricity. They are leaders in the Spanish electric power industry and the second operator in the Portuguese electric market. Endesa operates 22.7 gigawatts of installed generation capacity split among hydroelectric, nuclear, coal, natural gas, oil, solar, and wind. The company also operates in the natural gas sector, supplying gas to retail and business customers in Spain and France.
Endesa was founded in 1944 and is headquartered in Madrid, Spain. In 2009 Endesa became part of the Enel Group, a leading multinational in the world electricity and gas markets focused on the European and Latin American markets. The Enel Group owns 70.71% of Endesa.
