Originally established as a small construction company, EKOSPOL has expanded into the role of a general contractor over time and finally developed into an investor and developer. The founder, CEO and chairman of the board is Evzen Korec.
EKOSPOL began with the development of building plots, then expanded into the construction of houses and luxury villas, and finally to building large residential complexes with several hundred apartments. Since its foundation in 1992, EKOSPOL has completed 51 large residential projects for over 9,000 customers. The company has always operated and financed its projects from its own capital, without using bank loans or any other forms of external funding.
In the first half of 2014, EKOSPOL had the leading market share in terms of residential apartments sold in the Czech Republic. In 2014, EKOSPOL established a new Czech record by selling 250 apartments in one month.
EKOSPOL was awarded the ČEKIA Stability Award in 2009-2012 by the Czech Capital Information Agency (ČEKIA) in cooperation with the CZECH TOP 100 association. It was also listed among the 50 leading residential developers in Central and Eastern Europe by the Construction & Investment Journal, a trade magazine.In September 2009, EKOSPOL's residential development Nove Mecholupy was awarded the State Housing Development Fund Award in the Building of the Year 2009 Awards. In August 2010, in the Porotherm House 2010 competition, the residential project Residence Dalejske vyhledy won the Special Award from the General Director of Wienerberger, the promoter of the competition. The Viladomy Uhrineves housing development was entered into the Porotherm House Brick Award 2011/2012 and Facade of the Year 2013 competitions.
Since 2015, EKOSPOL has been the general sponsor of Tabor Zoo, a zoo opened in 2015 to focus on animal species threatened with extinction, also owned by EKOSPOL CEO Evzen Korec. EKOSPOL also supports the Česká Krajina charitable trust, whose main goal is to protect biodiversity and moderate the impact of climate change. EKOSPOL is cooperating on one of the trust's pilot projects, to return the European bison into the wild. EKOSPOL also supports civic association Společnost pro zvířata, which focuses on animal protection.
