Day One Ventures is an early-stage venture capital firm that invests in start-ups in the industries of artificial intelligence (AI), augmented and virtual reality (AR and VR), quantum computing, financial technology (including blockchain), educational technology, health care, marketplaces, and self-driving cars. The firm invests between $100,000 and $5 million in pre-seed, seed, and sometimes series A rounds. Day One Ventures was founded by Masha Drokova in January 2018. It is based in San Francisco, California. In addition to providing monetary investments, Day One Ventures leads the public relations and marketing campaigns of its portfolio companies. The firm's name is inspired by the contents of Jeff Bezos's 2016 letter to Amazon shareholders in which he proclaimed companies must always stay ahead of their customers by remaining in the business phase of "Day 1."
Day One Ventures has invested in companies including Hone, DuckDuckGo, Public Goods, Koop, Atoms, Yumi, Arcadia, Enso, Mara, Mindstate Design Labs, and Pathrise. Its exited investments include Lvl5, Feastly, Visit, Hellosaurus, Arcus, and Pillar.
