Brian Roddy is the vice president of engineering of cloud security at Google.
Roddy began his career as a senior scientist at Apple in 1993. In late 1997, he left Apple to co-found Reactivitywith John Lilly. Reactivity was a technology incubator that was acquired by Cisco in February 2007. After the acquisition, Roddy continued with Cisco as senior director of DCAS engineering.
In May 2010, Roddy left Cisco to join Jive Software as EVP of engineering and technical operations, where he worked for nearly five years. While at Jive, Roddy helped the company through large customer and usage growth and supported a successful IPO.
Roddy returned to Cisco in January 2015 and served as VP/GM of cloud security until 2020, when he left to join Google.
Roddy co-founded Reactivity with John Lilly in 1998. At Reactivity, Roddy helped launch Zaplet, funded by Kleiner Perkins, and CenterRun, funded by Sequoia Capital and acquired by Sun Microsystems. Reactivity was acquired by Cisco on February 21, 2007, for $135 million.
Roddy earned a BSE in computer science engineering from the University of Pennsylvania in 1991. He then earned a MS in computer science from the University of Wisconsin - Madison in 1992.
