Bob Kahn is an engineer, computer scientist, and inventor born on December 24, 1938, in New York City. He holds American citizenship and is best known for his work in co-inventing the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) and the Internet Protocol (IP) as part of the Internet protocol suite.
Kahn received his education from the City College of New York and Princeton University, and his doctoral advisor was John B. Thomas. He has held various occupations throughout his career, including professor, inventor of patents, and engineer.
In addition to his notable work on the Internet protocol suite, Bob Kahn also contributed to the development of ARPANET. He is the founder of the Corporation for National Research Initiatives (CNRI) and the Internet Society, and currently serves as CEO of CNRI.
