Arnergy

Arnergy is an international solar company which is based in Lagos, Nigeria. The company was founded in 2013 by Femi Adeyemo who is the incumbent chief executive officer of the company.Arnergy has installed more than 3 MW of installed capacity and more than 9 MWh of storage capacity across Nigeria.

Arnergy is an acronym for Alternative Renewable Energy. The company was co-founded in 2013 by Femi Adeyemo and Kunle Odebunmi. Adeyemo decided to start the company after seeing how the Middle East was using solar energy to power telecom towers. In July 2015, Arnergy secured funding from Nigeria’s Bank of Industry to provide rural communities with off-grid solar systems. The project was in partnership with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). In December 2015, Department for International Development (DfID) provided a grant of GB£100,000 to the company as part of their Solar Nigeria Programme in order to expand operations in Northern Nigeria. In June 2019, the Breakthrough Energy Ventures along with other investors invested US$9 Million in the company. The company aims to use the resources to power more than 35,000 SMEs in Nigeria by 2023. In December 2020, Federal Government of Nigeria agreed to provide $9 million to the company for micro, small and medium businesses and rural communities in the country. In March 2021, the company was given award for their services at the 2021 Edition of the African Brand Awards.
