Apheris

Apheris AI is a developer of a collaborative data ecosystem platform that enables users to use decentralized data sets by allowing data providers and data consumers to collaborate in a technically and commercially viable way. The company builds data solutions and unlocks new insights from distributed data of various parties without compromising security or ownership. Apheris AI was founded in 2019 by Robin Röhm and Michael Höh and is located in Berlin.

Apheris AI's platform was born out of the problem of sharing data between distributed departments and the regulatory constraints that restricted that sharing. Instead of sharing the data, the platform works to share the algorithm, allowing users to collaborate across teams, borders, and organizations to help them improve machine learning capability, use complementary data value, and increase the development of the platform itself.

To meet those regulatory frameworks, Apheris AI's platform offers federated learning, with governed, private, and secure computational access to sensitive data for machine learning in the collaborative environment. These controls allow users to control the data, including managing and tracking every computation and access of the data. The platform works behind an organization's firewall and does not pool data, allowing users to use workloads privately while federating with others, both to stay compliant and protect their intellectual property.
