Doxy.me is a telemedicine software platform that connects healthcare providers with patients via its online services. The company was founded in 2014.In 2020, due to increased telemedicine needs from the coronavirus pandemic, the service grew from 80,000 total users to 700,000 total users. The service hosted a million telemedicine sessions a day in May 2020.
Using doxy.me does not require healthcare providers or their patients to download additional software as it uses the web browser.
Doxy.me is HIPAA compliant, and for security purposes, the company doesn't store any patient data. If needed, providers can add links to their doxy.me rooms, for example to a patient's electronic health record (EHR), but the flow of data is not bidirectional. The company uses WebRTC, an open-source, standardized product for the video component of its service.
