Xavier Cugat, born Francisco de Asis Javier Cugat Mingall de Bru y Deulofeu on January 1, 1900 in Girona, Spain, was a multifaceted artist with various occupations such as musician, composer, bandleader, actor, film director, screenwriter, violinist, singer, and film score composer. He went by the pseudonyms of Cugie and Cugui.

Cugat's music fell within genres such as Music of Latin America and Pop music. He held multiple nationalities, including Spanish, Cuban, and United States. He passed away on October 27, 1990 in Barcelona.
