The University of Calicut is a public organization and educational institute in India. It was founded in 1968 and operates in the education, higher education, and university industries. The university has a motto: "Prosperity will be produced by pure action".
The institution has received accreditations from several organizations, including the National Assessment and Accreditation Council, Bar Council of India, Council of Architecture, University Grants Commission of India, and National Council of Teacher Education.
The University of Calicut is affiliated with multiple associations such as the Association of Commonwealth Universities, Association of Indian Universities, Medical Council of India, and Distance Education Bureau.
The university also has a subsidiary, the University of Calicut School of Drama and Fine Arts.
