ThinkSono is a London-based company with technology that can detect thrombosis, a condition occurs when there is a blood clot in one's leg which then breaks loose, ends up in the lungs and could cause death. The software is intended to be used to streamline the process of DVT diagnosis by allowing nurses to do a scan rather than radiologists.
The company's product is an application called "AutoDVT" and it allows healthcare professionals to diagnose DVT using portable ultrasound devices that are connect to the application on a mobile device. The healthcare professional follows the directions given by the application. The first instruction is to place the probe on the leg where deep veins are to be expected. The professional is then instructed to compress the veins by pressing down on the patient's leg in order to find if there is a clot. If the vein does not compress, the professional is alerted that there may be a case of DVT and can act accordingly. If the vein does compress, then the application instructs the professional to move onto the next one.
