TSP Engineering traces its history back to 1941 when The United Steel Companies Limited bought the 43 acre Chapel Bank site in Workington, Cumbria, on which the present works were built. Over subsequent decades, the business was owned by a number of companies, including British Steel, Corus, Tata Steel. In June 2016, they became part of a group of companies that were invested in by Greybull Capital LLP and in June 2017, TSP Engineering became a wholly-owned independent subsidiary of British Steel.
