Susan Kare is an American designer, computer scientist, and graphic designer born on February 5, 1954, in Ithaca, New York . She is known as the founder of Glam Media and for her notable work on the Athens typeface . Susan Kare currently resides in San Francisco .

Kare attended Harriton High School before furthering her education at Mount Holyoke College . She also studied at Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development, as well as New York University . She holds citizenship in the United States .
