Satsbacker is an open source and blockchain-based subscription and donation crowdfunding platform that is built on top of the Bitcoin lightning network and was founded by William Casarin in 2018. The platform enables users to financially support content creators through one time donations and subscriptions without having to worry about being censored or banned. According to Satsbacker's founder, William Casarin, the project was a response to the censorship and banning practices of Patreon of its users for their political beliefs.
