Pedro II of Brazil was born on December 2, 1825, in Rio de Janeiro. He was the son of Pedro I of Brazil and Maria Leopoldina of Austria. Pedro II had four children: Isabel, Princess Imperial of Brazil; Princess Leopoldina of Brazil; Afonso, Prince Imperial of Brazil; and Pedro Afonso, Prince Imperial of Brazil.
In his career, Pedro II was a politician and held Brazilian citizenship. He was also the founder of Caixa Econômica Federal, a Brazilian financial institution.
Pedro II passed away on December 5, 1891, in Paris.
