Paul Milgrom

Paul Milgrom (born April 20, 1948) is an economist from Detroit, United States. He holds American citizenship and is known for his improvements to auction theory and inventions of new auction formats. Milgrom is a professor and researcher in the field of economics.

Milgrom received his education from Stanford University and the University of Michigan College of Literature, Science, and the Arts. His doctoral advisor was Robert B. Wilson. Over his academic career, Milgrom advised several doctoral students, including Susan Athey, Joshua Gans, Gillian Hadfield, Michihiro Kandori, Steven Stern, and Bo Li.

Milgrom has received several awards, such as the 2020 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences, the Erwin Plein Nemmers Prize in Economics, the Golden Goose Award, and the BBVA Foundation Frontiers of Knowledge Award.
