OpenBB

OpenBB, originally founded as an open-source project named Gamestonk Terminal, is an open-source investment research platform. OpenBB was launched in 2021 by Didier Lopes and James Maslek after the success of the previous Gamestonk Terminal project, and they built upon that success and changed the name to OpenBB to reflect the company's aspirations.

OpenBB Terminal Pro is similar to the standard OpenBB Terminal, on which it is built, but has superior investment research capabilities, making it easier to access and analyze financial information with a graphical interface intended to be intuitive and fully customizable. The pro terminal also offers users greater access to higher-quality datasets, which they can subscribe to for deeper analysis and includes financial, economic, and market data.

The OpenBB SDK is the core engine of the OpenBB platform, providing programmatic access to the OpenBB Terminal commands in either Python script or Jupyter Notebook. The OpenBB SDK syntax is instantly recognizable by the Terminal commands. The OpenBB SDK is developed to simplify the process of access investment research by giving a single endpoint to connect different data sources.

To find investment research and data, OpenBB offers the OpenBB Bot, which delivers the data to a user's fingertips to help promote engagement and learning among a community or a user's peers. This can include sharing investment ideas and strategies with friends or colleagues by accessing necessary data through a text message. The OpenBB Bot is developed to be a collaborative investment research tool to help users make informed decisions. To do this, the user only needs to make a simple bot command, with the bot then offering visualized data in a preferred messaging platform.
