In the NFL Rivals football game, users will be in the role of a team manager from the NFL league. The league will consist of 32 teams and all the players represented will be NFT, which can be traded. The game is primarily focused on building a team and raising the level with the help of NFT tokens.
Billy Schautz, executive producer of NFL Rivals at Mythical Games, shared the details in an interview with Decrypt, stating that Rivals will be an arcade game with 3D models, noting the free entry threshold to the game, which will allow each user to get a starting team at the first launch.
The game will have a Play and Learn and Play and Own system, which allows players to earn tokens and NFT by winning matches or completing tasks. Schautz added that Mythical is not quite ready to share any details about earning tokens yet, but there are some plans for Ethereum-based tokens for the game.
NFL Rivals will have a single player mode and a PVP mode. In single player mode, the player will have to face the existing NFL roster. In PVP mode, the player will play with teams of other players.
Joe Ruggiero, the league's senior vice president of consumer products, said in an interview with Decrypt:
We are very optimistic about the potential of blockchain technology to attract fans in the future. We see this as a real long-term opportunity. NFL Rivals activates a sense of unity among the fans of NFL and will unite them. NFT games can include something more than just players, since part of the assets for the player will represent the pre-games in the game that the player will own and it also opens up some additional advantages.
