Merton Miller (16 5 1923 - 3 6 2000), also known as Merton H. Miller, was an economist and writer from the United States, born in Boston and died in Chicago. He held citizenship in the United States and completed his education at Harvard University. Miller was known for his work in the field of economics and the development of the Modigliani-Miller theorem, which contributed to the academic discipline of economics.
Miller had a notable academic career and was the doctoral advisor to several prominent economists, including Myron Scholes, Eugene Fama, Michael C. Jensen, Hans Stoll, and William Poole . His own doctoral advisor was Fritz Machlup.
In 1990, Merton Miller received the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences for his achievements and contributions to the field of economics.
