Merseyside Special Investment Fund is a Liverpool-based venture capital firm that invests in small- to medium-sized businesses in its early stages. Founded in 1996 by Alliance Fund Managers Limited, it invests in seed and early stage ventures. This firm funds businesses from all types of sectors, whether sole traders, partnerships and limited companies. It is composed of 4 funds: The Liverpool Seed Fund, MSIF Small Firms Fund, MSIF Mezzanine Fund, and MSIF Venture Fund.
MSIF provides funds between £3,000 and more than £2m to businesses across Merseyside and the surrounding region. It has invested over £151m into 1,690 businesses since its establishment in 1996. Its portfolio companies include Jade Solutions, Biofortuna, Decision Curve, Taecanet, Paver Downes Associates, NWIX, Editlite, Flasma, Cull Micro Imaging and So Protect Me.
