Martin Hellman

Martin Hellman , also known as Martin Edward Hellman , is a mathematician and computer scientist born on October 2, 1945 in New York City . He holds citizenship in the United States and is best known for his notable work, the Diffie–Hellman key exchange .

Hellman studied at New York University and later at Stanford University . He was advised during his doctoral studies by Thomas M. Cover . Martin Hellman has also been a doctoral advisor to Ralph Merkle and Taher Elgamal .

Among the key achievements in his career, Hellman has been a recipient of the 2015 Turing Award and was inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame in 2011 .
