Marc Raibert is an American roboticist and founded the robotics company Boston Dynamics in November 1992. Raibert sits on the editorial board of the International Journal of Robotics research and is a fellow of the AAAI. He is also a published author and wrote the book "Legged robots That Balance" published by the MIT press.
From 1968 to 1973 Marc Raibert attended Northeastern University and graduated with a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering.
From 1973 to 1977 Marc Raibert attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and graduated with a doctor of philosophy degree. His Ph.D thesis used robotic techniques to mimic biological behavior and his thesis was titled "Motor control and learning by the state space model".
After completing his degree Raibert worked as the professor of Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science for the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. From 1986 to 1995 Raibert also was a member of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Artificial Intelligence Laboratory.
