In 2012, KwikBoost began selling the first mobile phone charging station on the market. Many universities began adopting KwikBoost charging stations for their students this same year.

Campuses who had purchased the lockers reported that rather than leave their locked devices, students preferred to stand by the stations and wait as they charged. In June, KwikBoost acquired Brightbox, a competing charging company. In September 2018, KwikBoost was ranked #3376 on Inc Magazine's annual 5000 list.
