Jed McCaleb is an American entrepreneur and software developer that was born in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1975. McCaleb is the CTO and co-founder of the cryptocurrency Stellar and the non-profit Stellar Development Foundation. He also previously created eDonkey, Overnet, Mt. Gox, and Ripple.
Jed McCaleb is an advisor for the Machine Intelligence Research Institute (MIRI), and in January 2014 he donated approximately $500,000 worth of the cryptocurrency Ripple (XRP) to MIRI making it the largest donation the organization has ever received.
