James Rothman

James Rothman, born on November 3, 1950, in Haverhill, Massachusetts, is an American scientist known for his work as a physician, biochemist, and biologist. He pursued his education at Harvard University and has worked under the guidance of his doctoral advisor Eugene P. Kennedy. Rothman has also mentored doctoral student Sandra Schmid.

In 2013, he was the recipient of the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for his contributions to the field. Currently, Rothman serves as a member of the board of directors for Genprex, a biotechnology company.
