Global Shapers Community is an initiative of the World Economic Forum. The community is a network of hubs developed and led by young people willing to make meaningful contributions to their communities. These youth are referred to as shapers and they look for opportunities to have impact on a global scale by joining forces with hubs in different countries. Shapers represent a network of peers who are connected through technology, events and joint projects.
In 2011, Klaus Schwab, founder and executive chairman of the World Economic Forum, established the Global Shapers Community to assist youth with a desire to play active roles in shaping local, regional and global agendas. The non-profit organization is registered in Geneva, Switzerland and housed at the World Economic Forum. The Forum’s contribution to the organization consists of financial and in-kind contributions for operational support, as well as staff time, technology tools, and opportunities to interact and collaborate with its membership network.
At a 2020 Annual Meeting, a multi-year partnership between Accenture, Global Shapers Community, and the Forum of Young Global Leaders (YGL) was launched to assist organizations and individuals to cultivate environments for responsible leadership to flourish. Global Shapers' donors and nonprofit partners include the following:
- Accenture
