Erik Moore is the founder and Managing Partner of Base Ventures. During the past 12-years, Erik has invested in almost two dozen technology start-ups. Moore was a seed investor in Zappos.com which was sold to Amazon for $1.2 billion and Agencourt Biosciences which was sold to Beckman Coulter for $270 million.

Base Ventures

Erik Moore founded Base Ventures in 2012 with Kirby Harris. He found the seed stage investment firm from a joy of investing in technology startups and his belief in human potential. Some of Base Ventures successful exits have included Agencour Biosciences, Zappos.com, APG (acquired by Beckman Coulter Genomics), SocialCam (acquired by Autodesk), Appstores (acquired by inMobi), Grep Data (acquired by 6th Sense Analytics), and RLJ Holdings (IPO in 2011).

Board Member

As a partner in Base Ventures investments, Moore has been a Member of the Board of Directors of Wildfang.com, from December 2013 to November 2016; Pigeonly, since July 2014; and Surf Air, since October 2013. He has also acted as the Board Observer for Surf Air since November 2016.

Merrill Lynch

Erik Moore began a career at Merrill Lynch, where he worked from 1996 to 2011, at which point he secured an early retirement. At the time of his retirement, Erik Moore was a Director at Merrill Lynch in San Francisco.

Gen Re

Erik Moore was a Vice President at Gen Re, where he worked from July 1989 to July 1994. Gen Re was acquired by Warren Buffet.

Education
Dartmouth College

Erik Moore attended Dartmouth College where he received a Bachelors with a major in French and a minor in History. During his time at Dartmouth College, Moore participated in a secret society, was the president of Alpha Phi Alpha, volunteered in Côte d'Ivoire, West Africa for 3 months, and studied in Tolouse and Blois, France for 6 months.

University of Pennsylvania

Moore completed his Masters in International Relations/Business - French at the University of Pennsylvania.

University of Pennsylvania - The Wharton School

Moore attended The Wharton School for his Masters of Business Administration for Finance while studying at the University of Pennsylvania. During his time there, Moore participated in a semi-secret society Olympus and spent a month studying in China.
