Elmore Leonard

Elmore John Leonard Jr., commonly known as Elmore Leonard , was born on October 11, 1925, in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was a United States citizen. Leonard was a screenwriter, writer, novelist, film producer, and author. He passed away on August 20, 2013, in Detroit, Michigan.

Elmore Leonard was educated at the University of Detroit Jesuit High School and Academy and later at University of Detroit Mercy. As an accomplished writer, Leonard was known for his work in genres such as detective fiction and westerns.
