Our Coding Foundations course offers the ability for anyone to learn the basics of coding.

This class is designed to prepare anyone from any background for one of our Immersive Coding Courses. Our expert-designed curriculum and hands-on learning experience in this course will enable you to obtain an industry-recognized CIW certificate. Throughout this course, there will be daily Instructor-led training and hands-on environments to give you the practice needed to impress future employers.

THE LAUNCH

Prolific entrepreneur and inventor Scott A. Jones launched 1150 in 2014. With a $2 million grant from the Scott A. Jones Foundation and with software development experts from his previous entrepreneurial ventures, Scott brought a coding immersion training program to the Midwest in order to meet the ever-increasing and urgent need for highly-trained software developers. 1150 delivers relevant instruction within a true development environment while teaching tools that support workflow, team work, and code management.WHAT’S IN A NAME?

Many people wonder, what does “1150” mean? If you take a drive down 116th Street in Carmel, Indiana, you might just discover the reason why. Eleven Fifty (1150) is the address of where it all began, in Scott’s award-winning former home in Carmel, Indiana. Scott later moved to Hawaii for a few years and then moved back to Indiana in 2018 to run the Academy full-time again. For two years, “the mansion”, with its mahogany slide, indoor theater with balcony seating, indoor treehouse, massive limestone fireplace, billiards room and bar, catering kitchen with a chef, and 2000-gallon salt water aquarium, became the perfect location and environment for the academy’s intense coding boot camps.BIG MOVE & BIG GROWTH

As demand for Eleven Fifty’s coding programs became more popular, it became a perfect time to move to a location that provided the opportunity for classroom and curriculum expansion. The City of Fishers, Indiana, voted best city in the USA by Money Magazine, welcomed the academy with open arms into their quickly developing tech community. The academy landed in Fishers’ unique and expansive startup co- workspace and entrepreneurial incubator, Launch Fishers. The City of Fishers became the perfect fit for teaching, networking, and collaborating, and continues to be a community that fosters and thrives on the entrepreneurial spirit and innovation in tech.

WHAT’S NEXT?

Today, with over 1,000 program participants who have joined the central Indiana tech workforce, Jones is focused on statewide growth to further impact outcomes in order to meet industry demand. 1150 is the first in Indiana, and one of few in the nation, to be recognized as a Registered Software Development Apprenticeship program and also accepts GI Bill® Funds for transitioning veterans. For outcome transparency, 1150 is a part of CIRR (Council of Integrity of Results and Reporting) and has also been selected by Course Report as a Top Coding Bootcamp multiple years in a row. These distinctions are vital components to how 1150 is different from other coding schools and increases the number of qualified graduates being placed into the tech pipeline for sustainable growth.
