Cy Coleman

Cy Coleman, born Seymour Kaufman, was an American pianist, composer, songwriter, lyricist, and theatrical producer. Born on June 14, 1929, in New York City, Coleman held citizenship in the United States. He passed away on November 18, 2004, also in New York City.

Coleman was educated at several institutions, including the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development, the Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School, the High School of Music and Art, and the New York College of Music.

Throughout his career, Coleman worked in multiple genres such as jazz and pop music. He was recognized for his work by receiving awards, including the Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album.
