Catalyst Accelerator is a program that looks to develop cyber security technologies, celestial applications, space systems, and national security. The program is meant to accelerate the national security and defense of the United States. The program is headquartered in Colorado Springs, Colorado, United States. The Catalyst Accelerator program is designed to increase the U.S. Air Force's awareness and acquisition of commercial dual-use space technology. The campus where Catalyst Accelerator is housed is an ecosystem where industry, small business, workforce training, entrepreneurs, startups, and venture capital can collide with the aerospace and defense industry.
The Catalyst Accelerator's program is a semi-residential, twelve-week program for second stage businesses. As part of the program, businesses are provided office space, investment, Air Force liaisons, subject matter experts, and the necessary resources for increased innovation. The topics of the accelerator program have included:
- Terrestrial weather
- Position, navigation, and timing
- Resilient commercial space communication
- Space-based ISR
- Data fusion
- Cyber for space applications
After participating in the accelerator program, follow-on funding, which as of early 2021 Catalyst Accelerator said was over 202 million, has originated from commercial and DoD contracts, as well as private investment.
In July 2022, Catalyst Accelerator chose eight companies to participate in its International Space Domain Awareness cohort, scheduled to begin in August and conclude in November with a Demo Day.
