Cab Calloway (1907-1994), also known as the "King of Hi-De-Ho," was an American musician, singer, songwriter, bandleader, actor, and conductor. Born Cabell Calloway III in Rochester, New York, he was educated at Frederick Douglass High School in Baltimore, Maryland and Lincoln University in Pennsylvania.
Calloway was active in the music industry and mainly focused on the genres of jazz, swing music, big band, and blues. He was the father of singer and actress Chris Calloway and also had a connection with Ja'net Dubois, an American actress and singer.
During his career, Cab Calloway received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his contributions to the music industry. Calloway passed away on November 18, 1994, in Hockessin, Delaware.
