Bijou Brigitte modische Accessoires AG is a Germany-based company that operates in the fashion jewelry and accessories sector. The Company manufactures, imports and distributes fashion jewelry, gold and silver jewelry, fashion accessories and complementary products. Its product range includes arm and body jewelry, brooches, chains and hair jewelry as part of its fashion jewelry range; silver jewelry; the designer product series Senso di Donna; gemstone and amber collections; minerals and fossils, and children's jewelry, as well as belts, caps, men's accessories, handbags, scarves, sunglasses and watches, among others. The Company operates through numerous subsidiaries in Europe, as well as in China and the Middle East.
The company was founded in the German city of Hamburg in 1963 as a fashion jewelery import and trade company. Three years later, the company built an automated manufacturing system as well as a nationwide distribution service for Germany .
In 1987 it became Bijou Brigitte modische Accessoires AG and in the same year a new production, storage and dispatch plant was built in Hamburg-Poppenbüttel . One year later, it went public on the regulated market of the Hamburg Stock Exchange . The first branch openings outside of Germany took place in 1989 in Austria and the Netherlands .
After opening subsidiaries in several European countries , in 2006 it began its expansion in the United States by opening its first store in the state of Florida.
Its stores provide a range of minerals and fossils; children's jewelry; and fashion accessories comprising belts, caps, gentlemen's accessories, handbags, scarfs, sunglasses, watches, and other products. In addition, the company operates an online shop. As of December 31, 2020, it operated 990 stores in Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Egypt, France, Germany, Greece, Great Britain, Hungary, Italy, Jordan, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Slovakia, Spain, and Switzerland.
