Ben Roy Mottelson

Ben Roy Mottelson (born July 9, 1926) is an American physicist known for his work in the field of nuclear physics. He was born in Chicago and completed his education at Purdue University and Harvard University. Mottelson's doctoral advisor was Julian Schwinger.

Mottelson's occupation has predominantly revolved around being a physicist, and in 1975 he received the Nobel Prize in Physics for his work related to the motion of atomic nuclei. His work and research activities have contributed to the advancement in the understanding of nuclear physics in the United States.
