Andrew Viterbi

Andrew Viterbi (born March 9th, 1935 in Bergamo, Italy ) is a computer scientist, engineer, entrepreneur, and inventor . He holds citizenship in both Italy and the United States .

Viterbi received his education at various esteemed institutions, including the University of Southern California, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and the University of California, Los Angeles . His doctoral advisor during his studies was Solomon W. Golomb .

In his career, Viterbi is best known as the founder of Qualcomm and Qualcomm Halo . His numerous contributions to the field of technology have earned him recognition as a 2013 National Inventors Hall of Fame inductee .
