Amentum is a design, engineering, management, and modernization services company that offers services to critical systems and programs of national significance across the United States in the defense, security, intelligence, energy, and environment sectors. The company offers various services through joint ventures, other partner arrangements, and directly; services include facilities management, training, logistics, consulting, systems engineering and technical assistance, systems integration, and information technology.

Amentum was founded in 2020 and is headquartered in Germantown, Maryland. Amentum was spun out of AECOM, and the spinout was precipitated by a sale of the business segments of AECOM, which had previously been acquired. The core of what became Amentum comes from URS Corporation's legacy Federal Services business, which had been formed from the acquisitions of EG&G Technical Services and Lear Siegler Services in 2002, Washington Group International in 2007, and Apptis in 2011. These corporations have further lineages, such as Washington Group International's previous acquisition of Morrison Knudsen, EG&G tracing its lineage to the Manhattan Project, and Lear Siegler helping to maintain fighting forces during the Cold War.
